This publisher had a very
short life span. It was founded in 1900 by Charles Higgins and Samuel
W. Jamieson. By December, 1902 it was in receivership.
Of note, is that its advertising managers were Victor Cupples and
Arthur Leon who were later the named partners in Cupples and Leon, a
very prolific twentieth century publisher.
Jamieson-Higgins published three Peck books in wraps and hardcover. The
first editions of Sunbeams and Peck's Red Headed Boy were published by
Jamieson-Higgins Co.
-Sunbeams
-Peck's Uncle Ike and the Red Headed Boy
-Peck's Red Headed Boy
It appears that all three books were published in wraps in the Belford
Series. In the catalogues these titles are listed in a 25 cent
copyright list. Whether that means they were also published in wraps as
non-Belford Series books is unclear presently.
Sunbeams was first published in 1900 in hardcover (50 cents) and wraps
(25 cents).
The book in wraps was published as #15 in the semi-monthly Belford
Series on June 1, 1900.

Peck's Uncle Ike and the Red Headed Boy was published in 1900 in wraps
(25 cents) and hardcover (50 cents).
A November, 1899 publication of Peck's Uncle Ike and the Red Headed Boy
with the exact cover picture as the Jamieson-Higgins copy was published
by Alexander Belford and Co. as #1 in its Belford Series in 1899. This
fact along with the information that Jamieson-Higgins called its
paperback series "The Belford Series" makes it most likely that
Jamieson-Higgins Co. purchased the plates of the Peck book from
Alexander Belford and Co., another Chicago publisher.
